Wakayama Castle (Wakayama Park)

Features The former residence of the Kishu-Tokugawa clan, one of the three branch families of the Tokugawa Shogunate. About 600 Yoshino cherry trees bloom around the main keep, creating a stunning contrast with the white castle walls. The view from Ichinohashi Bridge and the nighttime illumination of the keep alongside the cherry blossoms are premier spring sights in Wakayama City.

Kimii-dera Temple

Location 1201 Kimiidera, Wakayama City, Wakayama
Features Selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan," it is famous as a place to see the earliest-blooming trees in the Kansai region. The grounds host about 500 trees. After climbing the 231 steep stone steps, visitors are rewarded with a panoramic view of the beautiful Waka-no-ura Bay through the blossoms. The harmony between the vermilion gate and the flowers is magnificent.
