Kawazu Town (Kawazu-zakura Tree Row)

Location Kawazu-cho, Kamo District, Shizuoka
Features The birthplace of "Kawazu-zakura," synonymous with early-blooming cherry blossoms. Approximately 850 trees bloom along a 4 km stretch of the Kawazu River. These flowers are characterized by their larger petals and deep pink color compared to Yoshino trees. During the festival from February to March, visitors can enjoy the vibrant contrast with yellow rapeseed flowers.

Sunpu Castle Park (Shizuoka City)

Location 1-1 Sunpujokoen, Aoi-ku, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka
Features A park developed on the site of the castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu spent his later years. About 450 Yoshino trees are planted along the moats and throughout the grounds. The blossoms set against the reconstructed Tatsumi Yagura (turret) and Higashi Gomon (East Gate) evoke a deep sense of history, and the night view reflected on the water is mystical.

Hamamatsu Castle Park

Location 100-2 Motoshiro-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka
Features Known as the "Castle of Success" where the young Ieyasu established his base. Around 330 trees bloom surrounding the reconstructed tower and its rugged stone walls made of unhewn rock (Nozura-zumi). Located in the city center, it offers a lush green escape with a Japanese garden and central lawn perfect for hanami.

Nihondaira

Location Shimizu-ku / Suruga-ku, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka
Features A scenic hill standing 307 meters high. About 2,000 cherry trees are scattered throughout the area. From the summit, you can enjoy a luxurious view of Mt. Fuji rising across Suruga Bay with cherry blossoms in the foreground. The 360-degree panorama from the Nihondaira Yume Terrace is one of Shizuoka's most iconic vistas.

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine

Location 1-1 Miya-cho, Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka
Features The head shrine of all Sengen shrines nationwide and part of the Mt. Fuji World Heritage site. The grounds feature about 500 trees, including the "Shingen-zakura" (weeping cherry) said to have been donated by Takeda Shingen. The harmony of Mt. Fuji and cherry blossoms seen through the vermilion gates and worship hall is a divine example of Japanese beauty.

Mishima Taisha Shrine

Location 2-1-5 Omiya-cho, Mishima City, Shizuoka
Features The highest-ranking shrine (Ichinomiya) of Izu Province. Approximately 200 trees of 15 varieties, including Yoshino, Mishima-zakura, and weeping cherry, bloom along the approach and around the sacred pond. The weeping cherries reflected in the pond and the illuminated dance stage (Maidono) at night are filled with classic elegance.

Kanogawa Sakura Park

Location Nakajima, Izunokuni City, Shizuoka
Features A row of about 100 cherry trees stretches for 450 meters along the Kanogawa River embankment. This riverside park is popular with photographers for its direct view of the snow-capped Mt. Fuji behind the blossoms. It is an ideal spot to sit on the grass and enjoy a peaceful, open-air spring day.

Sanaru Lake Park

Location Tomitsuka-cho, Chuo-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka
Features A relaxation spot for Hamamatsu residents surrounding Lake Sanaru. About 700 trees are planted around the lake, allowing for pleasant flower viewing while walking along the waterside paths. The park is also home to many wild birds like kingfishers, making it a great place to experience spring with all five senses.

Okitsu River

Features Rows of cherry trees are scattered along the embankments of the clear Okitsu River. The area near Jogen-ji Temple is a particularly lovely hidden gem. Oigawa Railway (Ieyama Station area)

Location Ieyama, Kawane-cho, Shimada City, Shizuoka
Features The Oigawa Railway is famous for its operating Steam Locomotives (SL). Near Ieyama Station, there is a 1 km row of trees known as the "Sakura Tunnel." This offers one of Japan's most iconic railway landscapes, where the retro SL can be seen passing through full blooms. The sound of the steam whistle makes the experience even more nostalgic.
