Nagoya Castle

Location 1-1 Honmaru, Naka-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi
Features The symbol of Nagoya, famous for its shining golden "Kinshachi" (golden tiger-headed carps). Approximately 1,000 cherry trees, mainly Yoshino and weeping varieties, decorate the castle grounds. The sight of blossoms against the main keep conveys the grandeur of the Owari Tokugawa clan. The illuminated night view reflected in the moat is exceptionally beautiful.

Okazaki Park (Okazaki Castle)

Location 561-1 Kosei-cho, Okazaki City, Aichi
Features One of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan" and the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Around 800 trees bloom around Okazaki Castle and along the Otogawa and Igagawa Rivers. The cherry trees lining the Otogawa River offer an impressive scale, and its night-time illumination is often cited as the best in the Tokai region.

Yamazaki River (Shiki-no-michi)

Location Mizuho-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi
Features Selected as one of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan," this is one of Nagoya's premier walking paths. About 600 Yoshino trees line both banks of the river for 2.8 km between Ishikawabashi and Aratamabashi. It is highly poetic to see the petals falling from branches leaning over the water, dyeing the river pink.

Tsuruma Park

Location 1 Tsuruma, Showa-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi
Features Opened in 1909 as Nagoya's first municipal park. Included in the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan," it houses about 750 cherry trees. The contrast between the retro Western-style architecture, such as the fountain tower and gazebo, and the cherry blossoms is wonderful, making it a beloved gathering spot for citizens.

National Treasure Inuyama Castle

Location 65-2 Inuyama-kita-koken, Inuyama City, Aichi
Features A castle keep featuring the oldest architectural style in Japan, standing on a hill along the Kiso River. About 400 trees bloom around the castle and along the river embankments. The view of the tower and blossoms from a sightseeing boat on the Kiso River is like a painting. Exploring the historic castle town nearby is also a highlight.

Gojo River (Iwakura & Oguchi)

Location Iwakura City & Oguchi-cho, Niwa District, Aichi
Features One of the "Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan." In Iwakura City alone, there is a continuous 1,400-tree row forming a stunning tunnel of blossoms over the river. The traditional "Nonbori-arai" (washing the paste off Koinobori streamers) performed in the river amidst the blossoms is a signature spring scene of the Owari region.

Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Location 3-70 Higashiyama-motomachi, Chikusa-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi
Features The vast grounds contain about 1,000 trees. In the botanical garden's "Sakura Corridor," roughly 100 species of cherry trees from across Japan bloom in succession. Families can enjoy flower viewing alongside the animals or take in the panoramic view from the Higashiyama Sky Tower.

Toyohashi Park (Yoshida Castle)

Location Imahashi-cho, Toyohashi City, Aichi
Features A park centered on the ruins of Yoshida Castle along the Toyokawa River. About 500 Yoshino trees bloom here. Aside from the beauty of the blossoms against the Kurogane Yagura (turret), the park comes alive in the evening with lit lanterns, making it the premier hanami spot in the Higashi-Mikawa region.

Mt. Komaki (Komakiyama Castle Ruins)

Location 1-1 Horinouchi, Komaki City, Aichi
Features A hill standing 86 meters tall, famous for the castle built by Oda Nobunaga. The entire hill is covered with approximately 1,150 cherry trees. The contrast between the blossoms and the historical museum (built in the style of a castle keep) at the summit is excellent. It is also a popular hiking course for those interested in history.

Sanagawa Embankment

Location Sanagawa area, Toyokawa City, Aichi
Features A 4 km stretch of cherry trees lining both banks of the Sanagawa River. Its most distinctive feature is the ability to enjoy the blossoms alongside a "yellow carpet" of rapeseed flowers. The colorful contrast of pink sakura, yellow rapeseed, and the clear blue sky is truly spectacular.
